Editorial - European Journal
The European Journal of Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry promotes the integration between psychiatric and psychological sciences. Indeed, it stems from the awareness that psychological and psychiatric disciplines are generally and historically split, still operating today, too often, in an opposite manner with the risk to generate confusion in users and to disperse valuable opportunities for them. We believe, however, that the two sciences, while maintaining their own historical methodology identity, can truly interact, integrating their instruments, in order to ensure improvements in treatments aimed at the psychological wellness of the person.
In fact, both disciplines have in mind the quality of life of theirs users that they must consider as their point of reference. The studies reported in international literature on neuronal plasticity confirmed as medical and psychological treatment need to be integrated, because there are neither medical treatment nor psychotherapy for excellence. Our idea is that, related to the type of problems and inconvenience that a particular person experiences, the specialist should assess whether, depending on the kind of individual, with its unique history, it is more appropriate a pharmacological or a psychotherapeutic treatment or both of them, ensuring the most appropriate strategy related to the person and the specific problem in the phase of care.
The publications of the Journal concern: the debate and updating between professionals and operators and researchers of mental health; research in psychology, psychiatry and counselling; an open confrontation between models of psychological, psychiatric and psychotherapeutic guidelines.
The Journal publish works, articles, reports, reviews and anything connected with the integrations of psychology and psychiatry.
